Hero Sniffer Dog Uncovers 30 Kgs of Ganja on Chennai-bound Express
In a high-stakes bust at Vijayawada railway station, a narcotics detection dog named Leo led authorities to 30 kilograms of ganja concealed aboard the Shalimar–Chennai Coromandel Express. The operation was a coordinated effort between the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB). Three women from Nabarangpur, Odisha — identified as Susanthi, Pushpa Latha, and Manisha — were apprehended after Leo signaled the presence of narcotics during an unannounced sweep of halted trains on Monday evening. Without him, this haul might’ve slipped through,” said Inspector M.V. Durga Rao of the Railway Police. The suspects confessed that the contraband had been handed over to them by a man named Bola at Visakhapatnam station. Authorities estimate the street value of the ganja at ₹1.5 lakh (1500 euro/1700 US dollar). All three individuals have been charged under the NDPS Act, and the case has been presented before the court.
